What is the temperature‑resistance of graphite crucibles?

Graphite crucibles can reach a maximum temperature of 1800 degrees Celsius and can be used for long‑term periods! However, most graphite crucibles are operated below 1300 degrees Celsius.

Precautions for Using Graphite Crucibles

Performance mainly depends on working conditions. When used in air, oxidation starts at above 600 degrees Celsius, which will shorten service life.

Store crucibles in a well‑ventilated and dry environment to prevent moisture from affecting performance.

Handle crucibles with care during transportation. Avoid dropping, impact or rolling, so as not to damage the protective layer on the crucible surface.

Pre‑bake the crucible before use. Raise the baking temperature gradually from low to high, and turn the crucible frequently for uniform heating to remove internal moisture. Increase the preheating temperature step‑by‑step to above 500 degrees Celsius. (Peeling or cracking caused by improper preheating is not a quality defect, and no return or replacement will be accepted.)

The crucible furnace shall match the crucible. Clearances at the top, bottom and surrounding areas must meet specifications. The furnace lid must not press against the crucible body.

Prevent flames from directly hitting the crucible body during operation; direct flames toward the crucible base instead.

Add materials slowly. Fragmented feedstock is preferred. Do not load excessive large‑size materials or pack them too tightly, otherwise the crucible may crack due to expansion.

Use crucible tongs matching the crucible shape for loading and unloading, to avoid clamping damage.

Continuous operation is recommended for crucibles to give full play to their superior performance.

Control the dosage of additives during smelting. Excessive additives will reduce crucible service life.

Rotate the crucible periodically while in use to achieve even heating and extend service life.
