How to better store silicon‑carbide graphite crucibles? There is a wide variety of crucible types and specifications. They are not limited by production scale, batch size or the type of molten materials. They can be selected freely with strong applicability and can guarantee the purity of molten materials.

Precautions for Crucible Use:

Store in a dry place after use and avoid rain exposure; slowly pre‑heat the crucible to 500℃ before use.

Load materials according to the crucible capacity. Do not pack materials too tightly, to prevent crucible cracking caused by thermal expansion of metals.

Scoop out molten metal with a ladle and minimize the use of calipers. If tools such as calipers are used, they shall match the crucible profile to avoid excessive local stress which shortens service life.

The service life of a crucible is related to its application. Do not direct strongly oxidizing flame onto the crucible, as this will reduce its service life.

Crucible Handling

Handle crucibles with extreme care to protect their glaze layer. Handle them gently to prevent collisions, impacts or drops. Do not transport crucibles by rolling them horizontally on the ground. Damage to the glaze layer will lead to oxidative aging of the crucible. Use padded trolleys (or other suitable handling equipment) for careful transportation.

Crucible Storage

Store crucibles in a dry, well‑ventilated environment on wooden pallets.

Crucibles may be stacked when placed upside‑down.

Never expose crucibles to humid conditions. Absorbed moisture in the glaze layer may cause peeling during preheating, which reduces melting efficiency and service life. In severe cases, the crucible bottom may fall off.

Thanks to their excellent properties, graphite crucibles are widely used in metallurgy, foundry, machinery, chemical and other industrial sectors for smelting alloy tool steels, non‑ferrous metals and their alloys, delivering favorable technical and economic benefits.

There are three raw materials for crucibles:

Natural crystalline stone

Plastic refractory clay

Calcined kaolin grog

In recent years, high‑temperature‑resistant synthetic materials such as silicon carbide, alumina and ferrosilicon have been adopted as grog for crucibles. Such grog improves crucible quality, density and mechanical strength.

Main Applications of Graphite Crucibles:

(1) Evaporation, concentration or crystallization of solutions

(2) Combustion of solid substances

Precautions for Using Graphite Crucibles:

(1) Direct heating is permitted, but quenching after heating is forbidden. Remove the crucible with crucible tongs.

(2) Place the crucible on a clay triangle during heating.

(3) Stir during evaporation; allow residual heat to complete evaporation when nearly dry.
